No Festival Required Screens Powerful Documentary
Saturday, September 6, at 7:00 p.m. & 9:00 p.m.
September 6, for two shows, at 7 pm and 9 pm, NFR and Space 55 will be screening the powerful documentary film, The Axe in the Attic. The film is essentially the story of the “Diaspora” of New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. It follows two filmmakers who chose to trace what happened to the New Orleans residents who were displaced and sent out to other cities or tried to stay and rebuild. Remember the people who were put on a plane and sent to Phoenix?
I consider myself incredibly fortunate to get the level of quality filmmaking that The Axe in the Attic demonstrates. It is engrossing, powerful and thought-provoking. It will haunt you after you leave the theater.
BUT you need to attend. This will not be playing at any other theater in the Valley. It is not available for rental. It is a film that is currently receiving festival awards and playing in small art houses around the world, including Space 55. The way I see it, 100 people in the Phoenix area have the opportunity to see this film. It should be playing for weeks, it should be attended by many more, but I am letting you know this is something that you should not miss.
For more info on the screening stay tuned, but in the meantime here’s the website, which also has the trailer: http://www.theaxeintheattic.com/
