news: Lighting Basics Workshop on April 29

Join us for the second beginning production workshop of 2017 – “Lighting Basics” – with instructor Warren Moore. Warren began his film career in the early 1980s, working in the set lighting department on commercials and music videos, then moving on to dozens of feature films and TV shows, both in Hollywood and on location. Warren has a degree in Fine Arts from ASU and attended graduate school at Cal Arts. He is a longtime member of IATSE Local 728, the Hollywood local for set lighting professionals.

Topics to be covered include:

*  Lighting Basics (different types of lights and their uses; how to set them up; proper tools & attire; power sources; setting the mood – indoor vs. outdoor)

*  Essential Lighting Safety Tips

*  The Relationship between the lighting, grip and camera departments

*  Basic use of gels

This workshop includes HANDS-ON TRAINING. Warren will also share some personal set stories and let attendees know where to go for more lighting info. A Q&A session will complete the workshop. Snacks will be provided.

The workshop is FREE for APA Members; the fee for Non-Members is $20 in advance; $25 at the door (space permitting).
