events: What's Next? Get on an Arizona Set!
We're holding a free virtual event for anyone looking to get their foot in the door of the Arizona production community. Students, recent graduates, or anyone curious about how to get a start in the industry are welcome to attend!
The event will include a Production Assistant training class to ensure you're prepared to get your first job on set. We'll cover topics such as: what we wish we learned in film school, what to expect on set, common terminology, timecards/invoicing, freelancing, how to find work, and more!
Our Production Guide at azproduction.com is the bible of the industry as it exists in Arizona, with over 500 verified listings of production professionals, equipment vendors, production companies, post production facilities, studios, support services and other valuable resources. Listings in the Guide are only open to APA members who are residents of Arizona and APA member companies that are domiciled in Arizona.
To join the APA, you're normally required to have three references, or submit three call sheets for each category you wish to list in, which for someone new to our industry can be difficult to provide. Your full attendance in this workshop will serve in lieu of the past work experience verification requirement for you to join the APA as a Production Assistant! You’ll have up to 30 days after the workshop to take advantage of this offer.
There is an annual fee to be a member of the APA, which allows the APA to promote its members, hold events, maintain our online directory, and more. After taking this course, you'll be able to join at the Member Level ($90/year) listed in the directory as a Production Assistant. For reference, commercial Production Assistants typically make $200-250 per day on set.
